Lockdown Weekend of Fun

Three things I’ve learned during lockdown
(1) Sleep is WAYY important for my mental health. It’s literally number one most important thing. About once or twice a week I go to sleep with my 2 yr old at 7pm, and wake up at 7am the next day. I guess it’s just what my body needs? I wish I knew this 15 years ago.

(2) How to be mindful and present while spending time with my kids. I learned that when I’m hanging out with them I have no where to be and don’t need to get anything done, and my phone isn’t actually bringing me joy.

(3) It’s hard to have work-life boundaries while working from home, taking time off from work makes me a better person, a better parent, and a better teacher for my students. Gotta nourish yourself first y’know.

These lessons helped me have the best weekend ever with my family. We had a short walk along St Kilda Beach, and a glorious Sunday morning playing in the house. Today I’m feeling blessed.
